Ms RYAN — While I am on the subject of police, after doing nothing about law and order for two years I was utterly gobsmacked that this government, in trying to play catch-up on the weekend, has completely disregarded the dire health and safety issues at the Benalla police station. The Benalla police station has the worst facilities in the state. It is not just old and outdated, it is unsafe. When the crime statistics were released in June this year, Benalla had the second highest increase in crime of any local government area in the state. The station should be at the top of the government's list for replacement. It is an absolute indictment of this government to put the safety of local police in jeopardy.
