Roads Christmas Road safety

Arrive safely at your destination this holiday season

21 December 2021

Member for Euroa and Deputy Nationals Leader Steph Ryan is encouraging locals travelling over the holiday period to take a break to arrive safely at their destination.

“This year, we have seen a 10 per cent increase in the state’s road toll,” Ms Ryan said.

“Tragically, 232 lives have been lost on Victorian roads this year, including seven fatalities across the Euroa electorate,” Ms Ryan said.

“Fatigue is a major cause of traffic accidents. I encourage drivers to be vigilant and allow plenty of time to arrive at their destination safely.

“We will all be in a rush to see our loved ones after so much time apart over the last 20 months.

“Be sure to have a break on your travels to stretch the legs, take a powernap or  recharge by grabbing a bite to eat.

“Please don’t hesitate to drop in at a driver reviver site on your travels where you will be welcomed by amazing SES and Lions Club volunteers.

“Let’s make sure the festive season is filled with family, love and fun as we look forward to what will be a wonderful 2022.

“I wish everyone across our region a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
