I call on the Andrews government this morning to invest in the infrastructure that we need to support the increase in traffic and activity in and around Benalla as a result of the Lima South precast concrete plant. Williams Road, which connects the Midland Highway to the Lima South Quarry, will be seeing 140 trucks travelling up and down every day, and local residents are already feeling the wear and tear as a consequence of that. There are also significant concerns about the safety of the intersection of the Midland Highway and Williams Road and the intersection of Murrays Road and the Yarrawonga road closer to the plant. The government also needs to do everything it can to ensure that those jobs are filled locally, and there is some concern at the moment that that is not happening.
