Coalition kicks in $100,000 for Broadford soccer pavilion
28 October 2014
Nationals Candidate for Euroa Steph Ryan joined Minister for Sport Damian Drum in Broadford today to announce $100,000 to build new clubrooms for the Mitchell Rangers Soccer Club.
‘The Mitchell Rangers have grown from just 45 players in 2003 to 166 players now and have done an excellent job of encouraging local participation and hosting more and more games,' Ms Ryan said.
‘I visited the club in the middle of winter and it was quite clear then that it was in need of modern facilities, so these new clubrooms will make an enormous difference.'
The project features the construction of player change rooms, a referee’s room, meeting space, kiosk and storage room.
The new pavilion will provide a welcome space, especially for the growing numbers of juniors and females keen to represent the club and the community.
‘The club is at the heart of the Broadford community, providing opportunities not only for sporting participation, but also to connect with other local residents,' Ms Ryan said.
Ms Ryan also acknowledged the Mitchell Shire Council for its $394,856 contribution towards the project.
