Eight months of GOTAFE investigation comes to nothing
29 May 2018
The Shepparton, Benalla, Seymour, Wangaratta and Weribee communities have been denied the full detail of investigations into GOTAFE.
Daniel Andrews and his Training and Skills Minister Gayle Tierney have refused to say what courses were impacted by allegations of misuse of taxpayer funds, meaning students and staff have no idea if their course has been caught up in this mess.
Ms Tierney must now explain why GOTAFE’s CEO resigned, why the organisation has been forced to repay $1.7 million and why students were told course enrolments had been frozen.
It's clear Labor has heavily redacted this report to hide problems with GOTAFE from students and the community.
All eight months and two investigations have produced is recommendations for more reviews.
Daniel Andrews and Gayle Tierney have done little to restore confidence of GOTAFE students and staff.
Daniel Andrews promised a TAFE ‘rescue’ but instead Labor’s jumped from crisis to crisis and presided over plummeting enrolments in Victoria’s TAFEs.
