Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has welcomed the appointment of Euroa electorate local Sally Branson to the Victorian Nationals most senior administrative role.
Ms Branson, who originally hails from Colbinabbin, begins today as The Nationals' state director.
"This year marks 100 years since Colbinabbin's WC Hill founded the Victorian Farmers Union - the forerunner of The Nationals - and became our first president.
"There's a lovely sense with Sally's appointment that we have come a full circle."
Ms Ryan said Ms Branson had worked extensively across rural and regional Australia in community development, international diplomacy, defence relations and senior public affairs.
Most recently Ms Branson worked as a senior adviser to former Small Business Minister and the Prime Minister.
“Sally has undertaken post graduate studies in regional development and most importantly she shares our passion and love for regional Victoria," Ms Ryan said.
"She will play a significant role in supporting our members to ensure The National remain a strong voice for country Victoria.
“The values that The Nationals were founded on 100 years ago are no less important today than they were then.
“Victorians living in outside metropolitan Melbourne need a fair and equitable share of the state's resources and we will continue to fight to ensure that happens," Ms Ryan said.
