Residents of Benalla and district can access a Justice of the Peace (JP) free of charge every Thursday between 10am – 2pm.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan said the service was available through her office in Carrier Street and no appointment was necessary.
“Each week a local JP volunteers their time to set up in my office,” Ms Ryan said.
“The service was started by previous Member for Benalla, Dr Bill Sykes and I have been very pleased to continue to facilitate it.
“People can visit for a number of reasons including the signing of applications and statutory declarations and document certification.
“I encourage people in need of a JP to avail themselves of the service.”
Secretary Treasurer of the Benalla Group of the Royal Victorian Association of Honorary Justices, Joy Poole coordinates the service and said it was important people knew it was available.
“We offer a range of services including the signing of statutory declarations, affidavits, certified true copies, powers of attorney, applications and police checks as well as witnessing signatures,” she said.
“We encourage people to use the service and to save the business people of the town being interrupted.
“If anyone has any further inquiries about the service, I would be more than happy to be contacted.”
For enquiries please call Joy Poole on 03 5762 5198 or Steph Ryan’s office on 03 5762 2100.
