Funding available for Men’s Sheds
17 March 2017
The 2017 Men’s Shed Funding Round is now open.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan said grants of up to $60,000 are now available to construct a new men’s shed, redevelop an existing shed or co-locate a shed.
Ms Ryan said refurbishment grants of up to $30,000 are also available.
“Men’s Sheds play a very important role in our rural communities and are one of the most powerful tools we have in helping men remain connected within their community,” Ms Ryan said.
“A lot of men have learned through years of ingrained Australian culture that they shouldn’t talk about feelings and emotions.
“This ‘way of doing things’ has contributed to high rates of isolation, loneliness and mental illness in males in regional Victoria.
“Becoming a member of a Men’s Shed gives men a safe and busy environment where they can connect with friends and maintain an active body and mind in an atmosphere of old-fashioned mateship,” Ms Ryan said.
Applications for grants close on Friday 16 June 2017 and guidelines and application can be downloaded at
“I encourage our local Men’s Sheds to consider making an application for this round of funding,” Ms Ryan said.
“Please feel free to contact my office on 03 5762 1600 if you would like a letter of support to accompany your application.”
