Heathcote wineries battle it out for top Shiraz
08 October 2018
Heathcote’s own Food and Wine Festival is set to feature in the 2019 series of the SBS television program Battle of the Vines.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has congratulated the Heathcote Winegrowers’ Association on their own success at the weekend’s festival, adjudicating as a guest judge to help select the region’s finest wines.
“I was delighted to sit on the judging panel for Battle of the Vines at this year’s Heathcote Food and Wine festival,” Ms Ryan said.
“This year, the Heathcote Wine Growers’ Association was selected to take part in the program’s first ever regional battle that will go to air in 2019.
“Heathcote was chosen as the first ‘regional wildcard’ for the next series of Battle of the Vines with spots for 64 of the region’s best shiraz wines to be blind-tasted by tasting panelists, including Frank Moylan.
“The most popular bottle of Heathcote shiraz will appear on next year’s show that sees states battling it out to find out who makes the best wine.
“This is a fantastic opportunity that will give interstate and even international audiences a taste of Heathcote’s thriving wine region.”
“After a tough battle for the top spot, Peregrine Ridge was successful in securing a place for their beautiful shiraz.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to Graeme and Sue Quigley on this significant achievement and look forward to seeing Peregrine Ridge featuring on next year’s series.
“It was a tight race and all the entries should be proud of their achievements.”
All wines featured on Battle of the Vines will be available exclusively through Wine Selectors for purchase.
