VLine Regional Public Transport

How low can VLine go?

16 April 2020

All but one of Victoria’s regional train lines failed to run on time in March.

The Geelong, Bendigo, Seymour and Gippsland lines all ran at least six minutes late, while all six long distance services failed to reach the 92 per cent punctuality target to arrive within 11 minutes of the scheduled arrival time.

The Albury-Wodonga line again took the wooden spoon, with punctuality sinking to just 7.9 per cent.

The Andrews Government has neglected the V/Line network, axing $149 million from VLine’s operating budget last year.

Comment attributable to Shadow Minister for Regional Public Transport Steph Ryan

Daniel Andrews wants to bill himself as the ‘infrastructure Premier’ all while he cuts funding for regional train services.

V/Line’s shocking performance is not going to improve while Daniel Andrews continues to cut funding from the service.

Our ageing tracks and trains are clearly not a priority for this Premier who is happy to leave country people on a third-world service while he spends billions in Melbourne.
