As Addressed

Thank you to everyone from the Heathcote and surrounding community who signed my petition calling on the Victorian Labor Government to urgently address the out of control kangaroo numbers in country Victoria.

I have been contacted frequently by constituents, most from Heathcote, who are having ongoing issues with kangaroos at home, on farms and on our roads.

The cost and inconvenience kangaroos cause, particularly to motorists, is of great concern.  After a run in with a kangaroo myself last year which left me without a car for several days, I can appreciate the frustration of the 124 people who reported animal related collisions in Heathcote in 2015.

My petition draws the attention of the Parliament to this very serious issue and requests that the government undertake control measures to protect motorists and ensure the kangaroo population is sustainable.

I will be tabling the petition in Parliament at the first opportunity following the July recess of Parliament.
