Kings Park petition launched at Expo
16 February 2018
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has launched a petition calling on the Andrews Labor Government to fund a full upgrade to Kings Park.
At the Seymour Expo today, Ms Ryan said the state government should be investing in community infrastructure in regional towns like Seymour and Kings Park had been on the waiting list too long.
“I am asking for the community’s support for my petition so that we can send a message to Daniel Andrews that Seymour matters,” Ms Ryan said.
Ms Ryan is pushing for funding ahead of this year’s Budget to upgrade the complex including facilities for the Seymour Football Netball Club, Little Athletics, works to the Ken Hall Pavilion and Eastern Hill Cricket Club rooms as well as upgrades to playgroup facilities.
“Kings Park is an important asset to Seymour. It is used year round by sporting and community groups and is home to the Seymour Lions Football Netball Club, St Mary’s Junior Football Club, Seymour Juniors, Seymour Girl Guides, Little Athletics, Eastern Hill Cricket Club, Seymour Playgroup, Seymour Darts Association, Seymour Playgroup and Seymour FM among others.
“It’s also a drawcard for events like the Seymour Expo and the Seymour Agricultural Show which bring people and money to town,” Ms Ryan said.
“That’s why at the 2014 state election I committed $600,000 for a full upgrade of Kings Park including football clubrooms, the playgroup area and roads, fences and parking around the grounds.
“I was disappointed that Labor scrapped the funding when they were elected to government but I’ll continue to fight for this upgrade until it is funded,” Ms Ryan said.
The petition is available at the Seymour Lions clubrooms or for download here.
