Letter to the Editor supporting Benalla police's call for a new police station

22 October 2014

Dear Editor

I strongly support Benalla’s police call for a new police station.

I visited the station last week with the Member for Benalla Bill Sykes.

Bill recalled that he had an office in the building back in the 1970s when it was shared by the Department of Agriculture and the police.

It was an old, unsuitable building then and a further four decades of decay make it a clear priority for replacement.

The County Court House is also less than adequate.

I therefore support immediate construction of a new purpose built police station with provision for a new Court House and possibly new CFA quarters at some time in the future.

To this end I have spoken with the Minister for Police and Emergency Services and encouraged him to support a bid for funding next year.

Yours sincerely
