Liberal Nationals commit to replacing Bayswater Scout Hall
31 August 2018
Bayswater Scout Hall is in a dilapidated state and only a Liberal Nationals Government will provide a safe, modern and comfortable environment for cubs, scouts, venturers and rovers to enjoy their scouting activities.
Our scouts deserve better and that’s why if elected, a Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $100,000 in matched funding together with Scouts Victoria towards the rebuild of Bayswater Scout Hall.
This funding builds on the commitment by the Liberal Nationals to redevelop the Scout Hall in 2014 which was then abandoned by the Andrews Labor Government. As more and more tape has been applied to hold the building together, troop numbers will seriously decline as parents seek a safer place for their kids.
It is our commitment to the community and culture that built and continues to use the Bayswater Scout Hall.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Young Victorians, Steph Ryan:
“Scout halls need our help. We want to support scouts and guides because they give young people great skills for life.
Heidi has been doing extensive work with her local scouts and guides to help improve the conditions of the hall and encourage young people in the community to get involved.”
Comments attributable to Member for Bayswater, Heidi Victoria:
“Whilst holding a hall together with ropes and tape might build Scouting skills, it is appalling that Daniel Andrews thinks it is right and fair for our kids to be in a building that should be condemned.
With this funding, 1st Bayswater Scout Group will be able to modernise their facilities and continue their fantastic work supporting, training and mentoring young people in the Bayswater electorate.
These kids deserve a hall that is fit for purpose, not one that is falling apart. I’m pleased to be able to commit to this long overdue upgrade.”
