Local history grants now available
07 November 2018
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has encouraged community groups across the Euroa electorate to apply for a share in $350,000 in funding for projects that preserve and share stories from our past.
Applications are now open for grants of up to $15,000 through the Public Record Office’s Local History Grants Program to assist local projects that preserve and share stories of our region.
“These grants aim to support local historical groups planning or currently working on projects within the Euroa electorate” Ms Ryan said.
“The Euroa electorate has a vibrant history with many important stories to share and preserve for generations to come.”
Projects previously supported through the Local History grants include the digitisation and preservation of newspapers, virtual exhibitions and websites, filmmaking and playwriting, historical walks and the restoration of historical costumes.
Ms Ryan said that the diversity of past successful projects highlights how important it is to preserve our local history for future generations to enjoy.
“I encourage all local historical societies, schools, sporting clubs and specialist interest groups to apply for this grant to help share their stories,” Ms Ryan said.
The Local History Grants Program is now open to all not-for-profit community groups.
Applications close at 5pm, 18 December 2018.
