Local Tooborac farm takes the gold

08 October 2018

Two Tooborac farmers are now gold medalists for their prize winning pork.

Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has congratulated Belinda and Jason Hagan from McIvor Farm Foods on their recent achievement at the Produce Awards in Sydney.

Ms Ryan attended the Gold Medal Celebratory Dinner last month in recognition of the farm’s prestigious win which included a menu featuring the prize winning pork.

“I was delighted to attend the McIvor Farms’ Celebratory Dinner at Mason’s of Bendigo to celebrate this significant achievement,” Ms Ryan said.

“The dinner consisted of 11 dishes that celebrated McIvor Farms’ golden pork, including dessert.

“Belinda and Jason are incredibly hard working and passionate people. They started McIvor Farm in 2010 and have built a loyal following of restaurants and home cooks who go out of their way to see them at farmers’ markets.”

“McIvor Farm is a free-range farm regenerative using farm management practices to restore soil health and improve the water cycle.

“Their old breed Berkshire pigs have been pasture raised free from GMOs and hormones which has in turn created delicious meat, sought after by award-winning restaurants.

“After being nominated for this award for five years running, Belinda and Jason’s hard work has finally paid off.

“The Produce Awards celebrate Australia’s bounty of ethical, sustainable and innovative ingredients.

“This is a fantastic outcome for McIvor Farm Foods and for the local community.”
