Merry Christmas from Steph Ryan MP
14 December 2020
As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish everyone in the Euroa electorate a Merry Christmas.
It goes without saying that the holiday period is going to look a little different this year.
COVID-19 has made 2020 incredibly tough for individuals, families and businesses across the Euroa electorate and our communities have sacrificed much over the past nine months.
Local businesses were forced to close their doors, leaving many people without work, teachers and students had to adapt to the challenges of remote learning and families have forgone milestone birthday and anniversary celebrations in effort to keep one another safe.
But even during the darkest of times, our communities have proven their incredible resilience, finding creative and innovative ways to stay connected.
While most of us will finally be reunited with loved ones over the Christmas break, we should be mindful of those for whom Christmas is a difficult and lonely time.
We also pay our respects to the many wonderful frontline workers – police, paramedics, nurses, doctors and other essential services staff – who will continue to work through Christmas and the holiday period.
The holiday period is a time to celebrate all that we cherish in our lives and to spend precious time with family and friends.
When looking for gifts, please look to buy local and support our tremendous producers and small businesses.
And if you’re travelling to visit family and friends, please remember to drive to arrive, stay vigilant on the roads and allow plenty of time to get where you need to go safely.
I wish you all a safe and joyful Christmas period and the very best for 2021.
