Murchison Football Netball Club receives grant

The Murchison Football Netball Club has received a grant through the 2018 VicHealth Active Club Grants program, Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan said today.
The club has received $2,129 to assist them in expanding both their junior and senior netball programs.
Ms Ryan congratulated club members on the club’s successful application saying sporting clubs are about more than just sport.
“The sense of connection and friendship that comes with being involved in a local club is an important part of what keeps our community together,” Ms Ryan said.
“The Active Club Grants program is about getting more people more involved in sport, particularly women who are not always as highly represented in many sports.
“It is exciting to hear of the initiatives being run by Murchison and I am pleased this funding will help them continue.”
Club President Craig Thompson said the club as looking to improve female participation rates and the grant would help with this.
“We are looking to improve our female participation in sport and now we’ve got some money to put towards netball dresses for the juniors and seniors and also some funding to buy some netballs for both clubs,” Mr Thompson said.
“We are also trying to get more junior teams going by getting kids from primary school to be engaged in the club a bit earlier and making it a good place to be.
“We’re pretty happy!”
