Next level access for Seymour Racing Club
02 November 2018
The Seymour Racing Club will finally be able to construct a lift to provide disabled access to the main function room if The Nationals are elected to government on November 24.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan today announced that an elected Nationals Government will fund $60,000 towards the construction of the lift to the Bar Landy Room.
Ms Ryan said she was excited to make a commitment to part fund the lift to the Bar Landy Room after the committee’s advocacy for the project over the past four years.
“The Bar Landy Room is the Seymour Racing Club’s main function centre. Since it was built the committee have advocated for the construction of a lift to the room to give people with a disability and elderly people access.
“Access to the main room has been a challenge for events held at the racing club and we want to eliminate those challenges to ensure people of all abilities can attend events at the facility.”
Ms Ryan said the construction of the lift is not only an important improvement for the racing club but also for the community more broadly for the use of the facility.
“The Seymour Racing Club is an excellent venue, it has a big open space and a beautiful outlook. It’s not only home to great regional racing, it’s also a lovely space for all celebrations of life.
“The racing club facility is something we can be proud of and improvements to access is crucial for use and future events.
The construction of the lift will be funded from the Liberals Nationals’ Victorian Industry Racing Fund (VIRF).
