Roads projects to secure local jobs

The congestion busting plan unveiled by the Liberals and Nationals last week will provide work to precast concrete manufacturers like those at Kilmore and Benalla for more than a decade.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan said the Opposition’s plan to complete the West Gate distributor project as well as commence work on both East West Link and the North East Link within the first term of government would provide a huge boost to local jobs.
“The plan we have outlined will provide a huge pipeline of construction jobs for more than a decade,” Ms Ryan said.
“Existing precast manufacturing facilities such as North Vic Constructions in Kilmore and the plant currently being constructed in Benalla by John Holland and CPB Constructions, will have the opportunity to be part of the bids for those projects.
“We have access to high quality resources and labour in our region which puts us in an excellent position to deliver materials required for these projects.”
Ms Ryan said the Andrews Government had wasted $1.3 billion to tear up the East West Link contract.
“The money Labor threw away by tearing up the East West Link could have replaced Victoria’s long haul train fleet twice over,” Ms Ryan said.
