Ryan asks Minister to meet residents about bypass
11 August 2015
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has called on the Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan to meet with residents about the Kilmore-Wallan bypass.
Ms Ryan said she had invited the Minister to Wandong to hear residents’ concerns and provide an update on the project’s progress.
“People feel they are not being kept informed about the process and timeframes of the project,” Ms Ryan said.
“The Labor Government’s failure to engage the community on this issue is deeply frustrating.
“There has been deafening silence since the Minister announced that the government supported the Western option.
“Local residents need to be kept up to date with what is happening.”
Ms Ryan said the Wandong-Heathcote Junction Community Group had provided her with a very comprehensive list of their concerns.
“The communities of Wandong and Heathcote Junction in particular feel they were not fully considered before the government announced a preferred route.
“It is my hope that the Minister will respond to my invitation and meet with residents to hear these concerns,” Ms Ryan said.
Ms Ryan said the bypass was a critical issue for the region and she would stand up to the Melbourne Labor Government to make sure they heard the community’s concerns.
