Ryan calls for volunteers to get behind fantastic cause

Euroa MP and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan is encouraging community members to get behind next year’s Devenish Dookie and District Good Friday Appeal as they search from more volunteers.
Ms Ryan said that the Devenish Good Friday Appeal has become one of the biggest fundraisers in the region, with the Good Friday Auction bringing in significant funding for the Royal Children’s Hospital year after year.
“Local businesses and community members generously donated 170 items to this year’s auction and the result was simply extraordinary,” Ms Ryan said.
“This year, the Devenish Good Friday Appeal teamed up with the Dookie community and raised a whopping $62,000 for the Royal Children Hospital with $24,000 raised from the auction alone.”
Organsier of the event and Royal Children’s Hospital area manager Neil Lonie is now seeking volunteers to join the committee to help organise next year’s appeal as it heads into its 12th year.
“It’s a great cause, we raise a lot of money but we need some more volunteers. It’s a massive job,” Mr Lonie said.
Ms Ryan said that Mr Leonie’s dedication to the Devenish Good Friday Appeal for the past 11 years has been nothing short of outstanding.
“I feel incredibly honoured to know someone as generous hearted as Neil and am in awe of the many years he has dedicated to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal,” Ms Ryan said.
“The Devenish Dookie Good Friday Appeal is a fantastic community event but for it to continue, they need more volunteers to come on board.
“If anyone’s interested in volunteering for next year’s effort I would encourage them to get in touch with Neil on 0427 644 366.”
