Seymour Kings Park 2018 election commitment

Ryan calls on Labor to fund Kings Park upgrade

09 August 2018

Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has called on Labor to match The Nationals’ $760,000 commitment to upgrade Kings Park.

Ms Ryan said the Seymour community was looking for certainty on the park’s future.

“I am calling on the Andrews Government to commit to this project ahead of the state election so we can be certain that it will progress, no matter who wins the election,” Ms Ryan said.

“Kings Park is used by hundreds of people each week and the many different community and sporting groups who are based there have worked extremely hard to get these upgrades on the agenda.”

Ms Ryan also released a new video on social media this week highlighting the wonderful role that Ken ‘Jumbo’ Hall has played in looking after the park for many years.

“Jumbo is a well known face around Kings Park. He has devoted years to keeping the park in great nick,” Ms Ryan said.

“There is rarely a time that I’ve been there that Jumbo isn’t mowing lawns or fixing something. I know he’ll be embarrassed to find himself the centre of attention, but I think as a community we should acknowledge the work he has done.

“These projects should not be about politics – they are about community and they should be supported no matter who wins government.”

The upgrade promised by The Nationals will upgrade the main community centre, refurbish the Ken Hall pavilion, construct new cricket nets and provide a shade sail and kitchen upgrade to the Seymour playgroup. It will also include works on internal roads, fences and parking.
