Ryan urges Minister to fund Waranga Hospital

Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Steph Ryan this week met with Health Minister Jill Hennessy to push the need for funding to complete the Waranga Hospital co-location.
The Coalition last year committed the $7 million required to complete the co-location and upgrade of the Waranga Memorial Hospital and Waranga Aged Care Hostel at Rushworth.
Ms Ryan said Labor had refused to commit to the project.
“During a meeting with Minister Hennessy last week I stressed the urgent need for funding to complete the project at Rushworth,” Ms Ryan said.
“The hospital remains a number one priority for the community and I am determined to ensure the Andrews Labor Government understands how vital the project is.”
Ms Ryan said she had also raised the matter in Parliament and written to the Minister calling for funding but so far the response had been very disappointing.
“I used my meeting with the Minister to stress that the co-location of the Rushworth Hospital is the community’s number one priority,” Ms Ryan said.
“I am disappointed that the Melbourne focused Labor Government continues to ignore the healthcare needs of the people living in Rushworth.
“With the State Budget fast approaching, it is vital that Minister Hennessy recognises the dire need for funding to complete the co-location.
“Goulburn Valley Health, the Rushworth Hospital Committee and the former Member for Rodney, Paul Weller have worked for years to see this projects come to fruition,” Ms Ryan said.
