Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Seymour will receive $823 for new specialised reins thanks to VicHealth’s latest round of Active Club Grants.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan congratulated the group on their successful application saying it was wonderful to see them receiving support.
“VicHealth’s Active Club Grants make a significant contribution to communities across the Euroa electorate by improving opportunities for more participation in sport,” Ms Ryan said.
“Riding for the Disabled is such a unique and special group and for young participants and their families, makes a world of difference.
“I have seen the time, effort and dedication of the volunteers who make RDA tick and I am so pleased to see Seymour receive this funding.”
RDA Seymour Treasurer Tanya Matthews was over the moon when she received the news of her successful application.
“We just want to say how grateful we are that these kinds of grants are available for groups like us,” Ms Matthews said.
“Every single cent that is donated to us goes straight back into the welfare of the children and the horses and we are always doing what we need to make sure we can keep doing what we do.
“We are doing it tough so this grant has really helped us.
“Different children have different needs and these new reins will ensure we can match the right reins with the right horse and child.”
Ms Ryan said Active Club Grants were an important source of funding to regional clubs, helping them to purchase equipment and uniforms.
“Grants like this go a long way in helping to ease the burden of fundraising that sits on members of clubs such as RDA,” Ms Ryan said.
“Seymour RDA are one of four clubs which received funding from across the Euroa electorate and I look forward to seeing the money put to good use.”
Ms Matthews took the opportunity to encourage people to consider donating to the group’s cause.
“We still exist, we’re still out there and we need donations too!,” she said.
