Spirit of ANZAC Prize
Spirit of ANZAC Prize – applications closing soon
11 September 2015
Year nine and 10 students in the Euroa electorate are being encouraged to apply for the 2015-16 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize.
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan said the program was a once in a lifetime opportunity for local young people.
“Following the fantastic support of ANZAC Day commemorative services across the Euroa electorate it is timely to encourage local students to make the most of this meaningful opportunity,” Ms Ryan said.
“The Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize encourages young people to question what the ANZAC spirit means today in a diverse and multicultural Australia.
“Students can submit essays, artwork, musical compositions, and audio or video packages as part of their presentations.”
Ms Ryan said the prize was open to all year nine and 10 students in Victoria and finalists would have the opportunity to travel on an all-expenses paid overseas European study tour of Gallipoli and the Western Front.
“The trip is an opportunity to reflect on events which shaped not just our nation but also our local area,” Ms Ryan said.
“Since it began in 2004, this important prize has captured the imagination of students and has provided them with the opportunity to see first-hand where Australian men and women sacrificed so much for future generations.
“In addition, 16 regional finalists will participate in a study tour to Canberra which includes a visit to the Australian War Memorial.
“Applications close on September 18 and I encourage all local year nine and 10 students to consider applying.”
