State Motorcycle Sports Centre rides $550,000 grant
28 October 2014
Nationals Candidate for Euroa Steph Ryan today joined Minister for Sport Damian Drum to announce $550,000 in Victorian Coalition Government funding to upgrade facilities at the State Motorcycle Centre in Broadford.
The $1.1milllion project partnership will enable Motorcycling Victoria to relocate its head office from Port Melbourne to the State Motorcycle Centre at Broadford.
Nationals Candidate for Euroa Steph Ryan said she had been working closely with the team at the Broadford State Motorcycle Centre for some time and was pleased to welcome the Minister to Broadford to make the announcement.
'This project has the potential to turn the Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex into the premier motocross facility in Australia,' Ms Ryan said
'It will cement Broadford’s place as Victoria’s number one race destination, and enable the complex to host even more major race meets and events.'
Ms Ryan said the upgrade will include improvements to the entrance of the facility, a new car park, and a unique viewing area of the motocross track above the pits shed.
'The complex currently attracts around 2000 visitors a month in winter, which grows to around 6,000 a month from October to May.
'This upgrade will grow that by up to 40 per cent, providing a huge economic boost for our community and significant employment benefits.'
