State of the art medical centre opens in Rushworth
11 December 2019
Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan has congratulated the Rushworth community on their long fought campaign to upgrade Waranga Health.
“It was a pleasure to attend the opening of Waranga Health, the formal culmination of years of hard work by the local community,” said Ms Ryan.
Waranga Health has been opened as a campus of Goulburn Valley Health and will provide state of the art medical care in Rushworth.
The facility will house all of Rushworth’s health services, including acute, aged care and primary care.
“The opening of Waranga Health is a great outcome for Rushworth,” said Ms Ryan.
“The community have worked hard to see this project come into fruition.
“Particular mention must go to the commitment of the community reference committee with whom I have had the pleasure of advocating for regularly in Parliament since my election to Parliament in 2014.
“In 2014 The Nationals made an election commitment to upgrade and redevelop the former Waranga Memorial Hospital and Aged Care Hostel in Rushworth.”
The former Waranga Memorial Hospital was over 50 years old and in a state of disrepair.
“It has taken many years but I am pleased the government proceeded with this much needed project,” said Ms Ryan.
“The strength and persistence of the community of Rushworth and the dedicated health care professionals is commendable.
“I am delighted to see this project completed and join the community to celebrate this opening.
“I wish the Goulburn Valley Heath committee and the Waranga Hospital committee well for the future.”
