What’s the true cost of Melbourne’s water, Lisa?
13 June 2018
Water Minister Lisa Neville has refused to release the true cost of water in Melbourne.
Under questioning at the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee today, Ms Neville refused to detail the per kilolitre cost of water despite last month skewing data to falsely claim that Melbourne’s water bills were some of the lowest in Australia.
Victorians water bills are low compared to other states because Melburnians use less water, not because they are charged less for their water.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Water, Steph Ryan:
“Melburnians water bills have doubled because of Labor.
“Lisa Neville has been caught out lying to customers in an attempt to justify Labor’s failed water policies.
“Melbourne’s water bills are more expensive then Sydney, Canberra, Darwin, and Perth and are only fractionally cheaper than Adelaide.
“While households are under pressure from skyrocketing bills, Daniel Andrews and Lisa Neville are forcing up the cost of water by making customers pay twice for the desalination plant.”
